Presidents XIII vs. Captains XIII Twenty20 Match
Following the AGM on Sunday 4th October 2009 we travelled down the road to Garden Park for what had been hyped up to be an exhibition of big-hitting and sledging. Unfortunately as is always the case, there are those did not fulfill the expectations promised.

Trippa was the first big casualty being caught by Geoff for a poultry 1, and Azza (1 run) soon followed him back to the pavillion. Earlier Stricko was out to a rank grubber from Stuey for not many, while Boots eventually hit the ball after many plays and misses. There was some strong batting to follow with Cheese, Swoop and Ash making some valuable runs while Nick Boz made a valuable 25 which included a massive six over mid wicket.

Cheese's performance on the day was exceptional for someone who had never played cricket before and the scouts in attendance were keen to lure him down to the Cricket club, not just because of his ability to look so good in a helmet either.

Dave Ted had promised some quality bowling but the only thing consistent about his performance was the amount of extras bowled. Muzza came out of retirement to save some face for the old boys and did a reasonable job with the ball, dinging in a few bouncers, but it was his opening stand with Spud that had the Captains XIII worries early on. However hope for the Presdients XIII pulling off a remarkable victory soon diminished when both were out in quick succession. Smithy then showed his allround sporting ability and compiled a well made 22, while Sticks (21) was the only other batsman to make some runs for the President's side. Despite having 13 wickets they only managed 117 in reply, and Geoff was heard later that night complaining that had he not ran out of partners he would have 50.

Though the big news of the day came in the latter stages of the President's XIII innings when Al Borrello walked out to bat. Having talked up his cricketing ability for six weeks prior to the event, he once was again upstaged by his talented younger brother. Having been smashed all over the park by Nick Boz when he bowled, he came out to bat with a heavy weight of expectation on his suspect back and he crumbled, clean ripped for 1 by the first ball he faced from his brother.
